A digital chip timing recovery loop for band-limited direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals

چکیده
Migration towards a full-digital implementation of modems is currently one of the main trends in transmission systems design. In this paper we describe a non coherent a11digital delay lock loop (DDLL) suited for chip timing synchronization in band-limited direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) systems, and we thoroughly analyze its performance. The key features of this novel scheme are represented by its low-complexity processing section together with its good tracking capability. Analytical expressions for the DDLL S-curve and steady-state timing jitter are derived and confirmed by a timedomain computer simulation. Furthermore, the Mean Time to Lose Lock (MTLL) of the loop is evaluated and some numerical results are reported. The proposed chip timing synchronization scheme reveals also an improved tracking performance when compared to the traditional analog DLL for rectangular chip DS/SS signals.

Design of a High Range, High Efficiency Spread Spectrum Transmitter for Audio Communication Applications
This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...

In this paper, a novel architecture for a fine timing tracking loop is presented. The loop is a second order feedback loop utilizing an interpolating filter to relax the requirements on the analog to digital section of the receiver. A complete analysis of the interpolating filter, loop filter along with a system simulation based on direct sequence spread spectrum are presented. I. INTRODUCTION ...

The performance of a coherent delay-locked tracking scheme for direct-sequence/spread-spectrum systems using half-sine or triangular chip waveforms for early and late despreading sequences is analyzed. The effect of band-limiting on the received signals is considered. Mean time to lose lock (MTLL) and root mean square (rms) tracking error of the delay-locked loop (DLL) are compared with that of...

A RAKE receiver accomplishing joint blind multipath diversity combining and PN code timing recovery is proposed for direct-sequence spread-spectrum signaling over a frequency-selective fading channel. In this technique, an improved known modulus adaptive algorithm is exploited to perform multipath diversity combining in the blind mode, while a modified PN code timing recovery technique based on...
